Established in 1992, calderpeel was founded by Harry Calder, who runs the practice with managing director Ewen Miller, five other directors, Neil Lewin, Graham Stevenson, David Hughes, Kevin Slack, Andy Poyser, with three associate directors and two non-excusive directors Simon Carden and David Croft.

The company merged in January 2006 with Carden Croft and more recently in 2008 saw expansion of the Practice with the amalgamation of bluegreenarchitects+engineers taking the practice to approximately 65 staff with a turnover of £4m based in offices located in South Manchester, North Wales and Dorset. The practice now offers a structural engineering service.

We are involved in a number of diverse local and national developments, along with a significant portfolio of work for private clients. In addition to a strong position in the marketplace, we are focused on constant business improvement and the importance of developing unparalleled working relationships.

We have a growing reputation in the urban design and conservation sectors. Our urban design skills have been developed over time through our detailed experience and understanding of both the tight planning constraints and the commercial expectations and pressures of client bodies, this team is led by Director Neil Lewin our specialist in Urban Design. calderpeel have also been selected for English Partnerships specialist urban design framework panel. calderpeel are only one of nineteen consultant firms nationwide selected for the urban design panel and the only purely northwest based practice. The conservation and listed building team is led by associate director Julie Gerrard who holds an MSC in conservation and is fully accredited. The practice is also very active in the PFI blue light sector, with a £43m scheme in Dorset for a police HQ and two fire stations just starting on site. This, and further local commissions, have also facilitated the opening of a branch office in Poole.

Having become accredited with Investors in People in February 2003, calderpeel achieved ISO 9001:2000 in September 2004, and are presently looking at the ISO 14001 Environmental standard. This commitment is reflected in the company's mission statement:

calderpeel offers clients a varied skill base, well-grounded expertise in planning, the ability to maximise the development potential of any site and can take projects right the way through from inception to completion of the contract on site. The practice operates at a national level for a national portfolio of clients.
